Default Yesterday

I had my first blushing tomatoes on the vine and I eagerly awaited making a BLT with my first fresh tomato of the season (Stupice).

I hurried home from work, put a pound of bacon in the oven and went out to the yard to pick the three tomatoes. They were gone.

My kids sat stone-faced and said they had no idea what happened. They suggested that perhaps an animal got them.

Like a good prosecutor, I separated the kids and questioned them individually.

Eventually, under intense cross-examination, my oldest daughter cracked. She couldn't stop laughing. I knew something was up.

Turns out my wife took the tomatoes and ate them at lunchtime. My wife still won't fess up. I think I believe the kids, though.

What a cruel group they are to their dear old dad...
