Default Listada de Gandia

I've seen on a lot of websites claimings on this variety being a
Italian heirloom. Do any of you have any information regarding this? I think that it's Spanish mainly because Gandia is a city of Valencia, Spain and Listada means striped in Spanish. What do you think?
Greetings,
Ignacio.
