Rockvale Taste Test '07 - The Top 3
Today marked the second annual Rockvale Taste Test. 15 people, 3 of whom grow out my plants every year, were given the choice of 13 varieties to rate. They were as follows:
Brandywine Sudduth's Delicious Mortgage Lifter Cuostralee Polish C Earl's Faux Mortgage Lifter Bi-Color Berkeley Tie-Dye Golden Queen USDA Strain Granny Cantrell's German Red Big Red Ashleigh RL Brandywine Cross The winners were: 1. Mortgage Lifter (source TGS) 2. tie Delicious (Weeks') and Cuostralee (TGS) 3. Berkeley Tie-Dye (from Bigcheef) Participants were shown numbered entries and recorded their favorites on a paper ballot. ML has been really great this year. The texture is what makes it special. Some of the tomatoes coming in now after a 5 week drought and heat wave are hard and tough but ML is still fine. mater |
