Fishwater on Seedlings
Hey guys,
During the summer I'll dump the dirty water from my freshwater fish tank on the veggie garden (I've read that between the decaying food and the fish poop that it will provide mild fertilizing properties). Is there any reason not to use dirty fish water on seedlings? I don't know if there would be any bacteria present in the water that may damage the young plants. My germination was spotty this year, so my plants are ranging anywhere from 3" with two sets of leaves, to just pushing their crook-necks out of the mix. I'm going to start transplanting the larger ones into 4" pots over the next couple of days, and after they get cozy, thought that the fish water may be beneficial for a very mild feeding. Any thoughts? -Delora |
