Default Pepper Problem

I stopped by to see my friend's garden late afternoon and it is beautiful. They have about 60 hot pepper plants and one which they said was healthy looking yesterday is drooping from the top today. The leaves from the middle down are fresh and healthy looking but the top parts look they have had hot water poured on them. We looked for a cut worm but did not find any. The soil around it beneath the straw mulch was damp so it didn't need watering.
Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
Thanks.
Gary
