Default growing potatoes

I have raised potates for years but this year I had something happen I don't know about. My potatoes tasted really good but the skin looked terrible. It had the thin new skin and the thicker storage skin in bloches all over the potato. If you peeled them you would never know they looked bad. Like I said the taste was great the skin just looked terrible. A friend of mine in town had the same problem but not as bad. Does anybody know what the cause of this is and how to stop it. I really need to get it under control as I have a farmers market and had to be very picky on what potatoes I sold. Anybody's ideas would be great.
Thanks, heirloomer08
