Need help with Paste Tomato
This year I planted about 7 different varieties of paste tomatoes.
Striped Roma Sheboygan Long Tom Martino Federele Heinz Amish Paste I have come to the conclusion that the Determinate tomato's do the best here, we get a horrid wind storm the first part of August every year and it wreaks havoc on all my tall plants. On top of that, I don't have to fuss to much with the short plants. The Martino (determinate) is amazing in production, The tomato's are small 2 to 3 ozers, My taste tester (DH) said the taste of them is kind of Blah. The Heinz is ok (Determinate)........... I was really impressed with the taste and the meatiness of the Speckled Striped Roma (indeterminate) tomato, However, the plant itself had troubles at the start, kind of sickly looking, not a heavy producer. Sheboygan (Indeterminate) has been a good producer of pink tom's. The taste is good too. Anyway, I am looking for some good tasting Determinate type paste tomato plants. I am in the warmer part of Idaho. What are your recommendations? Thanks! |
