Second set of Dwarf Releases coming soon!
Watch this space (I will be editing it further over time) - but just to give you a heads up...
Tania will be offering the following NEW DWARF PROJECT RELEASES on her site soon. These will include: Perth Pride - nice tasting medium round purple, Happy family Sleeping Lady - nice tasting, medium sized oblate chocolate, Grumpy family Yukon Quest - nice tasting, medium sized, oblate pink, Grumpy family Iditarod Red - nice tasting, medium small, round red, Grumpy family Many thanks to ContainerTed for working up sufficient seed quantities for the release. And thanks to Tessa (Perth Pride) and our enthusiastic Alaskan dwarf project duo (Sherry_AK and AKGardenGirl - Sherry and Sue) for carrying the heavy load and providing drive, energy and enthusiasm for the creation of Sleeping Lady, Yukon Quest and Iditarod Red. Much more to come - I will let Tania provide an update in this sticky thread when everything is set for the release - please don't request/order until she is ready..... So, 13 new releases. I am awaiting results from Neil Lockhart and Bill Minkey to see if there are additional ones for this year - my suspicion is that the 2012 NH assignments will lead to the next ones, however....stay tuned for news! _________________________________ just some stats on the first 13: green - 4 yellow - 1 ivory - 1 chocolate - 2 purple - 3 pink - 1 red - 1 potato leaf dwarf - 5 regular leaf dwarf - 8 most promising/next in line we hope (next 1-2 years) - Summer Sunrise Dwarf Sweet Sue Dwarf Kelly Green Sweet Adelaide Rosella Crimson Boronia Wherokowhai Dwarf Blazing Beauty Dwarf Sweet Scarlet above would be 2 more yellow, 1 green, 2 pink, 1 purple, 1 yellow/red bicolor, 1 orange, 1 red....5 potato leaf and 4 regular leaf. So in two years - 22 (minimum) total new Dwarf varieties out of the project. There are other named varieties that are going to take a bit more time - either color, size, or flavor not yet optimized or stable (like Sarandipity, Shellby's Purple, Big Green Dwarf, Chocolate Champion, Dwarf Russian Swirl, Banksia Queen) - or still too early -so 2 or more years away (like Brindabella, Dwarf Caitydid, Lucky Swirl, Mahogany, Maralinga, Coorong Red, Coorong Pink, Loxton Lass, Uluru Ochre, Mallee Rose, Barossa Moon, Chocolate Lightning, Dwarf Beauty King, Dwarf Purple Heart, TastyWine, BrandyFred, Fred's Tie Dye) If all goes well, in 3-4 years we will have 45 or more new Dwarf varieties out there from the project...amazing! We have no idea yet at all how we will get these grown out for the initial release, which companies, etc - but that is to be expected, and are details that will be worked out in the coming years.
