novelty or new crops for this year

i always like this time the beginning of the season because its not too late to grow the vegetables you wanted to plant in previous years but for some reason you never got around to it or didnt have the seed.. for me this year its black garbanzos-kabul which i planted today ,,,, they were cultivated in afghanistan but improved at washington state... another new crop i am trying is celeriac although it might be challening for me and for my tomatoes i am especially excited about trying several ukranian and siberian varieties for the first time...... can anybody else share what they are excited to try this year?
