Eggplant plant pics - stem/leaf/calyx colors are distinctive
I've noted for awhile that, unlike tomatoes and peppers, eggplant really do have very distinctive stem/leaf/vein/fruit calyx colors that are specific for varieties. This can be helpful for seed savers, as it is pretty easy to spot when you have a cross or mix up.
Some comparisons - stem, leaf, calyx (if present)
Pay particular attention to the veins on the leaves - and how the color can be constant throughout all veins, or be pale at the edges, then shade into a color toward the base.
I know this is really geeky - but it is really interesting to me!
