swc 1st tomato and BER
i am pretty sure i know why the BER sank in. my timer broke while away and the growing media dried out. the planst were pretty wilted according to my lovely neighbor who spotted the problem and not only called but also watered from top for me.
i ended up losing 16 tomatoes to BER on 2 plants but 14 of them were from cher purple. there are still more green healthy toms on the cher purple then the brandywine x Nar. anyway i added some cal-mag to the feeder tube just as insurance and hopefully with the new timer things will be ok. in the meantime i got my first ripe tomato. its a cherokee purple. weighed in just over 9 and a half ounces. the photo posted has the cher purple on the right along with 2 mystery maters from a regular container and a tennis ball for size comparison. ray if you read this how did the bat guano work for you? i used dr earth 10-3-1 and although new to the SWC i feel it really helped the plant growth. |
