Default Celebration time!

Monday was a VERY happy day around here.

In one of those rare confluences, such as when multiple planets align, or Christmas and Hannukka take place on the same day, July 9 turned out to be BOTH the date of my first ripe tomatoes---two Stupices---AND the exciting "Tomato Zabby Day."

Tomato Zabby Day, children, is the wonderful day of the gardening year when the first tomato plant gets to be as tall as Zabby.

This year it was a Sweet 100 plant that hit the mark first.

The day is always one of rejoicing, but usually it is the joy of anticipation---tall tomato plants signify a good harvest to come. So to have it come the same day as an ACTUAL HARVEST---earliest ever in my Zone 5 garden---was particularly delightful.

I'm only just recovering from the festivities enough to post this.

Any other Tomatovillians out there recently celebrate their "day" in the garden? (Think how early you get to celebrate if you are short!)
