And you MUST inhale the intoxicating aroma of a real fresh lilac, it is the ultimate sign spring is finally arrived for me. I have one right outside my office window here, and when the breezes blow, and the scent wafts through window, it's so beautiful, truly. Hmm...I think I need to plant more of them!

Some oif my best boyhood memories include the sweet fragrance of lilac wafting into the house through open windows in early morning. I can't imagine why I've never planted any as an adult. I suppose it never seemed practical since my work required us to move every few years and leave the lilac behind. This year, I did plant a lot of Yellow Jasmine and I am patiently waiting for next spring and the wonderful aroma from their blossoms. Can you think of other plants which release their pleasant fragrance into the air besides Jasmine and Lilac?
