Default Ever thought of termites as a pepper pest?

I tried to bring my potted Aji Dulce pepper in out of the cold the other night, then quickly put it back outside when I realized that there seems to be a small termite colony in the pot. Termites were everywhere, trying to build dirt tubes out of the drainage holes and into the wall.
Anyone have any ideas for getting rid of the things without killing the plant or poisoning the ripening peppers?
