Sad Seedling Story, get your tissues
Went to check my 2 flats of sown seeds today. Needed water. Watered the 2 full trays, 100 seeds. Nothing had sprouted yet, so I thought I'd move the trays to my ironing board just for the natural light closer to the window. Unplugged the heating mat. Moved the first tray.
When I turned my back to walk to the ironing board, the weight of the therostate slid off the table and flipped over the entire 2nd flat of egg cartons on to the floor. Grrr Felt like crying. I picked up all the DE and tossed it back into the egg cups. But I will be dumping it all out because I won't know what the plants are. 50 of my little would be babies. Gone. The other sad part is that I put all 10 of my Sakharnyi Zheltyi 'sugary yellow' in Russian seed in that first flat. And the 10 seeds of Sungold. Those will be easy enough to replace, but not the Russian seeds. Guess I strt over tomorrow morning after I get the egg cartons all washed up and ready to go. |
