Default My small container garden

Hello all,

I decided I should come out of lurking and wanted to share my humble tomatoes for 2013 with you. This is my second year growing vegetables for my husband and I. Last year was a valuable learning experience with the extreme heat, spider mites killing off all cucurbits and most tomatoes (except the sun gold, nothing could kill it), and no rain from April - October. This year I'm arming myself with plenty of shade cloth, a better irrigation system, and keeping up better with the aphids and thrips I've seen so far. I'm growing cherokee purple, mortgage lifter, better boy, san marzano, sun gold, and super sweet 100, three plants of each. I've got nine plants in 15 gallon root pouches so far and just ordered more so I can pot up the remaining seven tomatoes this weekend. I just put two (a sun gold and a san marzano) in one of my raised beds yesterday after pulling up all the cabbage. It's a bit too hot for cabbage now

Thanks for looking. I really enjoy it here.

Will need to put some mulch down tomorrow, looks like they handled the transplant OK.

These are all hardening off, waiting to be transplanted this weekend.
