Because you may not have peroxide at home and want an all natural solution?
Dunno, i use chemical fungicide if trouble arises though it hasn't for a long long time, at least not with tomatoes, i grow some futzy very fungus-sensitive succulents so i always have fungicide around. The paste with honey is good because it doesn't wash out easily, again for other stuff, never used it on tomatoes.
