That's funny, it was a lot earlier last year than when I grew it the first time, too. Thought it might be an effect of starting it later (longer days, warmer...) Also wondered if the short season conditioning, ahem, encouraged the expression of earliness that was lurking.
Anyway, Gary, don't all the best early-midseason tomatoes start to bud around 4 weeks? At that rate, it['s only one day early. The OJPL was a lot earlier than Northern Lights last year. A lot. And it kept on pumping right into the fall. I love it, and I miss it already thanks to my stupid mistake. Enjoy for me, please. I sorted through my outdoor collection of rejected plants due to a risk of frost tonight, and found one Northern Lights with nice buds on it. A keeper. We'll see what the rigors of the season do for that tardy gene... |
