Default Plant parts Nomenclature question

Hi All:
The term for the small stalk that carries the blossom is, as I understand it, is called a petiole. The stalk that carries the petiole is called the peduncle. Is this the same nomenclature we use with African Violets also applicable to Tomatoes?
What is that little 'knuckle' looking thing on the petiole of a tomato blossom called? And interestingly enough, some blossom petioles don't have the knuckle looking thingy...I was going to call it a k*nk but was afraid the risky word ki*k wouldn't show up!! Looks almost like an abscisson point on some streptocarpus plants I have seen.
