Oak trees - that would explain why we don't have Hen of the Woods here. They look great!

I really like ★★★★ake and I would take the trouble to grow them if it was promising... but apparently they find our season a bit short and not as warm as they like.

Overall it was quite a dry year in my home area, and mushroom things didn't really get hopping until late September. Some nice winter chanterelles, which I got with very little effort only a stone's throw from the house. I also got a T. dulciolens matsutake about twenty feet from my door, they're just as good as the big pine mushroom. But still... I have too many trees near the house!
