M: not sure. I use it as my indicator bug, if it's around then the other guys are too. From the wings and colors I think it might be a Sciarid spp, definitely not S. stagnalis. They are tiny so hard to really ID.

Whiteflies, thrips and these guys were having a small party. I shut it down early this AM with delta-neem-daconil combo. Ran out of DE so time to order up again.

Any reqs on food grade DE?

I use food grade DE. I buy it in 50 lb bags for 23 bucks from our local feed store. They sell it for horses but it is certified organic and food grade. I have yet to find it cheaper. The stuff they sell at Home Depot or Lowe's is usually pool grade and has something other than DE in it. I called the Safer Brand DE and they told me not to use it on my plants for consumption.
