Are tomato stems supposed to have warts?

I got this a week ago from Laurel's Heirlooms. . .

It arrived very shriveled up and icky looking, but the info that came with it said it would from travel and just needed water and to sit for a few days. . .

I've never done this before so of course I'm paranoid. And it really does look icky!!
