It needs to eat and try to feel safe, like us. There are all kinds of coyotes, foxes, hawks, etc... around here. Because I've been in the garden many hours a day for about a month, reconstructing almost everything in the garden, the rabbit (and the babies) likely feel completely safe when I'm around.
I'm the sort when the robins fly in, every day, I stop what I'm doing, grab a shovel, and dig them up some worms. I'm running low on worms this year. (sigh)

You have baby buns too? I have them...at least two nests. One is in my front yard! Silly momma rabbit. I guess I finally figured out where/how the expression of dumb bunny came about. Those baby bunnies are just so darn cute.
