b54red Tomatovillian™ Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Alabama Posts: 7,068	I never have to worry about too much organic matter because it breaks down so fast in our warm sandy soil. Instead of cow manure, compost and mushroom compost, I added large amounts of peat to my beds this year. It seems to have helped. Bill
