Default First Impressions of new varieties

Last year I grew Rutgers, Big Beef, Early Girl, Better Boy and Bonnie's Pink Beefsteak. We really liked them all but we were not that overwhelmed by any of them to grow them this year. So far this year we've tasted Moskvich, Ugly, Brandy Boy and New Yorker. Except for one Ugly tomato that was really good the rest of the bunch have been so so at best. None of the varieties this year taste as good to us as the ones we grew last year. We're still waiting on some more varieties to ripen so maybe things will get better. If I had to make a choice right now I'd trade them all for any of the varieties we grew last year. They had more tomato taste and still had some measure of firmness even when ripe.
