Default Ripening Azoychka

I have never grown beefsteak tomatoes before, and now that my Azoychka is changing color, I am fascinated to see how the color change happens. Not all over at once like I thought it would. No, the two tomatoes which is changing color is yellow on the side facing the sun and green on the other side. They didn't really get direct sun, they were protected by the leaves, but the sun must have affected what side changes color first.

Is this common with all beefsteak tomatoes? Here are two pictures.
