Enchantment is enchanting
I wanted to mention a great find this year: "Enchantment."
It's a hybrid. It looks like a paste tomato, but eats like any great "normal" tomato. The taste is extremely robust not only for a hybrid or a paste-type, but for any great o.p. as well. It's a very balanced acid-sweet flavor. But the real news is how many fruit the plant puts out. It's a machine! It bears early, and is still bearing tremendous amounts of great-tasting fruits in its old age. And each one is PERFECT. The plant, by the way, is as strong and healthy as a tomato plant can get. TGS used to sell Enchantment, as did Renee Shepard, who was a real fan and promoter of the variety. But nowadays, the only source that I can find is John Scheepers KITCHEN GARDEN SEEDS, which has Barbara Damrosch as their spokesperson. (She's Elliot Coleman's wife. Both are garden writers/TV garden show personalities, and better than most.) |
