My fall planted garlic is finally looking better with new growth. A few snacks of Miracle Grow and recent lack of hard frosts have really helped.
I almost did a really bad thing. I had planted out about six cloves on March 5 at the end of a bed just as a test to see if they'd make with a spring planting down here. I forgot about them and when putting row cover over the bed I put two bricks on the cloth on that end to hold the cloth down... right on top of the garlic planting! After an "OMG!" and removal of the bricks, there they were, pale and about 2" long, bent over. They've since recovered, no worse for the wear, I guess. |
