Default Highlights from this year's tomatoes

I haven't posted terribly regularly, but I've enjoyed learning from so many of the threads. Since the season is winding down, I thought I'd put up some pictures of the varieties that I was impressed with this year. I tend to like yellows and oranges, as you can tell. But there were great red/pink tomatoes that I grew, too (Sylvan Gaume, Pink Honey, Zena's Gift, EM Champion).

Sweet Splash Electra - This is one of the best from 2021. It's a compact plant. I grew it in 7 gallon containers and it had no problem living in those constraints. It got about 3 to 4 feet tall and produced nicely. The tomatoes are really sweet and flavorful. The whole plant and fruit are also beautiful. The leaves are variegated and the tomatoes are yellow with white stripes that you can't see well when they're ripe, but they're gorgeously striped when they're green. The tomatoes are from cherry size to about 3 or 4 oz. We had an issue in July that ended up with all my containers except one drying up, so I don't know if they'll produce for the whole season. I'm planning on putting one or two in the ground next year.

Peachy Keen - This is another one I grew in a container, but it wanted more room and I definitely plan to put it in the ground next year. It was very productive and very sweet. I'd say it rivals Sungold. In size, they were similar to the S S Electra though more of them got to the larger end of the spectrum. When stressed, they went down to very small but concentrated the flavor.

Indigo Pear Drops - Both my daughter and I really like the flavor on this one. Super fruity. Definitely growing it again.

Golden Buddha - This is a 8 to 10 oz orange with good flavor. It's very meaty and the flesh is almost a salmon color, though the outside is orange. It turned out great for sauce. I didn't plant it in the best spot this year and it got somewhat neglected. I regretted that when I started saucing it. It still produced fairly well. Next year it's going in a better spot.

Midnight Sun - I know this one gets mentioned on here regularly, but I have to mention is again. Huge size, good flavor and makes great sauce. What's not to like?

Yellow Fire - I was so impressed with this one. It's large for a paste, tasty and gorgeous. I love just looking at it and I enjoy making sauce from it. I wish it peeled a bit easier when un-blanched, but that's my only semi-complaint.

The last picture is of Yellow Fire, Amish Paste and Purple Russian.
