Interesting, Craig! I have a bag in my garage that were picked in haste just before the last freeze warning. They have slowly been turning color, I'll have to look through them and see if I can find any tending to orange, although with only two plants grown I suspect they will all end up red. A big striped bell from seeds would be lovely, are you sure you can't fit it in?
I wonder why the whole pepper has to turn red at maturity, you'd think the white stripes would lack pigment and just turn a darker yellow, if anything, still showing contrast.
