Default Growing milkweed

We gathered a sack full of milkweed pods planning on growing out the seeds. Often I have read the seeds need to be kept in refrigeration before starting. Also some say to plant the seeds in the fall and allow them get cold naturally. Then they will come up in the spring.

Any tips?
