ZAPPED-Mr. Frost

Got me! I was almost over anyway, but I have beautiful and larger then normal, although green.. Lemon Boys on yet. Are they still good or does the frost ruin them?

I had a bunch of plants last year. When I got my first frost I pulled up the whole plant and hung them upside down in the garage. In other words all I did was make another mess.

Robin. Actually I just meant the tomatoes, the plant can go bye byes :-)
I have never had noce green tomatoes on before when frost hit and I don't want to get poisoned

LOL. You are not going to get poisoned, but if you think refrigeration kills the taste of tomatoes, try frost! EEW!

If they're not burned, try keeping the fruit to see if they will ripen, or make green tomato pickles, or fried green tomatoes. If they got burned though, I agree with Feldon - EEW!

I think if the plant is killed out right by a heavy frost the unripe tomatos will need to be used straight away.In my experence, a good leaf cover with a light frost and you can get away with it,but been so late in the season shes just looking like the final picking for ya Cecil

I managed to give away some green tomatoes and fry some, but I am still getting a couple 4th of JUly tomatoes. I pull everything else.

old man frost is expected tonight - since I have a bit of micro climate here, I hope to be ok and harvest another bunch tomorrow. As I have picked the last off a limb, I clip it and dispose of it - filled the barrels five times. My vines are looking quite stubby. My first morning view has been my lush, gorgeous tomato plants but now - yikes. I am down to about 8 plants from 40. Zukes are still setting. Peppers need another week or two for the bells. May or may not make it - that would be about Nov. 1! Most toms are smaller but quite tasty. Only five months until I can start seeds, etc. Piegirl

No frost here yet, but I pulled everything anyway today. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I just got the itch. There were about twenty good ripe or almost ripe tomatoes and maybe fifty or so pounds of greenies. Since I don't have the inclination to save any of the green ones, they are on the pile.

(Warning) I will summarize the year at a later date when I can get around to it.
