Tricot Experiment
I had one tircot this year so I planted two seedlings right next to each other and provided identical growing conditions. (size container, amount of soil amendment) As of now, the tricot appears to have a slight edge on its sibling, but really no difference to speak of. Any one else comparing a tricot to a normal dicot plant?

I def. am - but with my quad-cot !
I'm growing them as a pair (one reg. one quad) in the same cage (crazy right? lol) - but will monitor both while growing this summer ~ Should be cool ~ Tom

I have a tricot eggplant I've been comparing with the others. So far, there is no difference.

I have a tricot Castor Bean . The initial seedling was smaller. They're now about 10" tall & it has caught up to the others, but leaves are definitely smaller.

My tricot Cherokee Green was not as vigorous a seedling as some of the other CGs, so it got pitched along with some other weak sisters.
I don't really see any good purpose in growing out any food crop plants that exhibit inferior qualities. If a tricot seedling exhibits superior qualities, like vigor or subsequent productivity, then it's worth growing out. Good luck with your project, I hope your tricots show some interesting and valuable qualities compared to their more conforming sibling. PV |

Sounds like your experiment will be much more interesting than mine.
I doubt I will see a great difference in the two plants as they seem to be on the same track right now. If any extreme differences arrise, I will repost. Thanks for all the input..... RIK |

Sorry, y'all ...
I didn't mean to imply that YOUR tricots and quad cots are inferior ... mine was It may have just been a co-inky-dink or something I neglected to do for the poor thing, but it just pooped out on me and I don't save poopers-outers. PV |
