Paul,
I've grown it a few times and used it in breeding projects. I wanted it because it was a backcross of a Red Beauty hybrid back to Red Beauty. I did not think it was red enough for the standards of commercial growers of Bakersfield, CA or Mount Vernon, WA. I crossed it with Alaska Sweetheart, I know. I received my starts from: Bill Campbell State Agronomist Plants Materials Centers, Palmer, Alaska If anybody had an opinion about Alaska Red, it would be Bill. However, I think he liked the Mandel (Peanut) variety best. |
