Thanks Ted
Loaded on Vista 64bit and can enter, print, lookup Help but unable to save. Receive run time error 3664. Ted this is still very handy I just print out the information and keep a hard copy. george Win Defender updates are current so I'll just make hard copies of the information for now. According to the Microsoft Website, Error 3664 has been associated with "Windows Defender". Numerous problems with updating Defender have been addressed at the Microsoft website. It is currently considered a "bug" that must be solved by Microsoft. Many folks have tried different actions in different sequences just to get Defender to install its updates and most have met with failure. The following is a piece of one post on the forum there.
"The solution that worked for me was uninstall Windows Defender, download the latest version, install and update. It just seems that the latest update is somehow not compatible with the old version of Windows Defender." So, at this time, I must conclude that the 3664 error is a bug in the Microsoft Defender software. I don't support removing Defender, but must conclude at this time that it is the problem encountered in 64 bit Vista by my software. I will continue to monitor this particular problem at the Microsoft website. Ted

Note that running Vista on a 64-bit cpu platform
does not necessarily mean that one is running 64-bit Vista. I got this Compaq with an AMD Athlon X2 cpu (64-bit dual core) and Nvidia chipset, with an embedded Nvidia graphics processor, and HP shipped it with 32-bit Vista installed. I assume that some parts of 64-bit Vista were not ready for prime time on this hardware, and HP was trying to hold down support costs by factory installing 32-bit Vista. (I have been running Gentoo linux on it compiled for 64-bit only, no multilib. No problems, but I have not installed X-windows yet, so I do not know if there is a working graphics driver for this graphics chip. Every few months I boot the Vista partition and check for firmware updates from HP.)
