Our season on Long Island, NY is over

When tomato season is over it is always sad. The most exciting time for us is when we buy and put in our plants for the first time in the Spring. The second is when we harvest our first tomato in July. Its generally a grape tomato.

We did have problems with the blight this year and frankly the only plants that did very well were either cherry varieties or red grape. Julien which is a mini plum tomato also did well.

I hope that there is some research on how to prevent the blight from happening next summer. It is a hardship to work to plant and then have half of the plants either die or not produce edible tomatoes.
