droopy, wilty, whatever -
All I know is Opalka is a compact
bushy plant that produces lots of
great paste tomatoes or even salsa ~
1 or 2 got BER ... THATS IT !
I was very impressed with it ...
I hope "newbies" to it will be too
as I did trade plenty o' seed ~

but its only because I got Carolyns
book as a gift - and needed to try many more
new maters !!!

Hmm! How compact and bushy? I have a small garden and Opalka is on my short list of possible Spring additions next year.

It gets to about 5 to 5.5-6 ft max for me here.

about 3 1/2 - 4 feet tall -
Funny, they were the only
plants to NOT go too far past the top
of a cheapy $0.70 tom cage ~

So far my Opalka seeds have been shy. I put 2 more on a moist paper towel in a Ziplock.

Tom I got seed from you.
I had a good early plant in the ground get decapitated by hail
I was gonna yank it but didn't get around to it. Now in zone 5 it is 5 feet tall and LOADED!
It is next to Jaunne' Flamme' (ate the first today BTW..... AWESOME!!!)
Still waiting for the first Opalka. I'll be saving seeds for y'all.
I am also taste testing Amish GOLD this year.

Glad to hear they are working out after
a minor setback ! The NAR plants are
doing great ~ Medium plants, loaded with blossoms ready to burst ~
I only have 1 Opalka this year, because I'm giving Amish Paste (Red) a try ...

how those "Gold" ones work out / taste ~
