Default chocolate cherry ripe?

Picked my first 2 cc a few minutes ago - don't know if they are ready or not - they look like 2 perfectly ripe cherokee purples. Or should they be darker in color. Plant exploded in last 3 weeks but I think it has fairly modest set. Thanks piegir

Did you check tatiana's database? Many varieties have pictures of ripe fruit; that might help. Otherwise try one out and see how it tastes. I tried that out with a Negro Azteca today... it wasn't ripe lol

bove are some pictures of Chocolate Cherry which was bred by___________-and it should be more of a mahogany color, but not as dark as Black Cherry. Some of those pictures are definitely not ripe or that photography is off.

And Tania shows no pictures. I was going to type in Aaron's name as the person who bred it and I see Tania has a question mark after that and I never confirmed that with Aaron and obviously she didn't either. So at this point an unconfirmed rumor, but it is OP and is a dark one and there are several folks who have compared it with Black Cherry and Negro Azteca as far as taste goes.

And above is a good picture of it from Jeff Casey's seed site and he also refers to Aaron Whaley as the breeder and also has opinion about its taste.

This is a picture of some of my Chocolate Cherry that I took a couple days ago.
When they have a pretty even mahogany color all around, they are ripe.
