It doesn't matter if the plants are touching or on opposite side of your yard, Bees hit all the plants so cross pollination will be the same. The majority of the seeds will be true to type from self pollination.

I've ordered from Laura for about 2-3 years and yes, there have been a couple mix ups but nothing too unpleasant. I'm always amazed at the big healthy plants with thick stems I get from her.
My Paul Robeson looks like the photos showing a black with green shoulders. It's a great tomatoes for flavor but Cherokee Purple still wins the taste test in my garden along with Mortgage Lifter and Purple Haze--a couple of other varieties are making my "must have" list, too. |

I have no complaints about the plants I received, other than the fact that they were wrong. They were healthy, nice stems, etc.
On the other hand, I got some absolutely gorgeous plants from a seller on craigslist for next to nothing (and he gave me a ton extra, since he had left overs), and they were all true to type. A few other seller plants were as nice, but they grew just fine, and, they were all true to type. I know its not an exact science, and I don't expect 100% accuracy. But if I'm spending close to 8 dollars a plant (including shipping), it needs to be better than 30%. In any case, I wouldn't have needed to use her again anyways, so its a bit of a moot point. |
