I'll be looking for rin homozygotes in F2 Mountain Magic next summer. Based on what I could find out online, this seems to the preferred gene for Extended Shelf Life (ESL or LSL) commercial hybrids. I'll also try a first set of crosses to larger fruited types.

Frog, rin tends to be effective in a cross but difficult when homozygous. Not sure you will get anything useful except possibly some future breeding stock.

Its a male parent for an "extended shelf life" hybrid that I'm after. It sounds like capturing great flavor and ESL is a challenge, so I'm thinking that test crosses this summer with a homozygous rin from MM would give me a good start.
