Big Sungold Select? (Especially for Carolyn)

Here's a pic of my Big Sungold Select. (I hope) Seeds Carolyn sent produced nice orange maybe two oz fruit this winter that I grew in a sunny window. Same seed batch, this summer in my garden they are red and one weighed a whopping 5 ounces!

Here's what I got last winter: The bigger fruit is compared to a smaller regular Sungold:

Yeah! Finally got pic to work! BTW Carolyn, the Orange Minsk seed you sent is a winner! All big juicy beefstakes...no hearts or bomb shapes like I got last year from my OM seed from another person. Did you get any ripe from those Hearty Bomby OM seeds I sent you yet? CURIOUS!

Big Sungold Select is not 100% stable. Don't grow it myself but have seen a couple of threads on various forums where the issue was discussed. Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms sells this variety and this is what he says on his website:

BIG SUNGOLD SELECT:
Not yet stable, however all sizes and colors had outrageous sweet tropical fruit tomato flavor. Aggressive grower and producer. 75% of plants had orange cherries and the other 25% where a mix of larger yellows, red’s and mahogany. Again, all had exceptional flavor

Maf, I think it may have been in the late summer, early Fall of 2010 when I put up my thread about performance of varieties from my seed offer and actually now that I think of it I think someone else didn't wait for that and posted earlier.

All to say that some were getting red fruits and I went to Brad's website since Reinhard had sent those seeds to both of us, and copied all you said above andalso transferred the link to here.

I also sent a couple of the threads to Reinhard for him to review.

Thanx maf anyway. I was aware that the variety wasn't stable. I wanted to post pics showing how wide a disparity there is in the variety. I liked both the 1.0-2.0 oz orange version AND the 3 to 5 oz red version growing now. I wasn't complaining. I should have worded my post better but I am picture challenged here and was more worried about getting them both on LOL!

And Carolyn, if you are growing those bomby/ heart OM seeds I'd be interested in knowing what you ended up with. TIA. Again, thanx for sending me the real deal OM I am growing this year. VERY productive plants with a nice taste...:-)
