Default White Queen ripe!

White Queen ripened yesterday... so pretty!!!

Here it is all cut up...

and the bottom

It was VERY white with just the tiniest bit of pinkish tinge on the bottom. I didn't really know what to expect from the taste - but I quite enjoyed it. I didn't find it very bold - more sweet and light without seeming bland. It was fairly juicy and meaty and aldo had a reallylovely texture, that melt in your mouth thing happened for sure. The plant is loaded with fruit, so I'm glad I liked it. Going to try to make a white pasta sauce with it later in the season. For some reason that really appeals to me!

Wow, very nice. I really never knew there were so many different tomatoes much less colors. I am with you on the white sauce. How cool would that be when the taste doesn't match the normal look. So did it have regular tomato qualities or taste like something else? Everytime I read one of these interesting taste tests I add to the seeds I want. LOL Someday I will need several acres of land to plant all the tomatoes I want to taste.

It tasted just like a tomato !!! I knew it would - but just as I was cutting it up I was thinking about the things that I had read about this variety - people had written that it was fruity & sweet - so I was imagining a very light honeydew melon or the white part of a pinapple.. for some reason i thought it might have a hint of white freezie (cream soda flavour I think)... no idea why I was thinking about that... probably just craving a popsickle!

Then I was wondering if it would be anything like the tangy green or the full bodied black. It was just like those in the 'tomato' ness of the flavour - you would never mistake it for anything else. Somehow the taste just seemed simpler or more subtle than the other flavours that I have tried - but not bland. I really enjoyed it.

I live on about an acre - my problem is how to convince my hubby to let me turn it into a tomato wonderland!

LOL, yeah, my husband isn't the issue but my dogs want to know when they are getting their back yard back. LOL I haven't had the heart to tell them yet but I am expanding my tomato garden next year so they will have less room. Ok, it is definetly on my list. I can't wait to can some and make spaghetti sauce for my family.
