Angelique's Revenge of the Tomato Year

My tomato plants must have it in for me this year. Out of 25+ plants that I have, only a handful have given me any fruit. Those are:

black cherry
snow white
Aunt Ruby’s Green Cherry (gave a few fruits but doesn't look happy)
Koscovo
Sugar Lump
SFT (first to die)
Kimberely (now dead-heat)
Una's Yellow Cherry (now dead-nematodes)
Earl de Edgecombe (dead-heat)
Cabot (dead-heat, only 2 fruits)
Moldovan Green (dead-heat)

Mexico, Cherokee Green, Aunt Ruby's German, Black Sea Man and Brad’s Black Heart died without giving me any fruits.

Even though I planted all of the following between May 1st and June 1st, none of them have fruits.

Tangerine (really not looking happy)
Carbon
Lucky Cross
Aunt Gertie’s Gold (really not looking happy)
Peacevine Cherry
Grub’s Mystery Green
Berkeley Tie Dye
Anna’s Russian
Stick

Most of the above had flowers that have fallen off during our 100-110+F weather.

I call this the revenge of the tomato year because this is my first year growing cukes (greek, miniture white, lemon armenian) and zukes (ronde de nice, c. romanesco, cocozelle). They are both doing very well...Superb. These plants are in an area where I had a lot of tomato disease problems last year.

Even my randomly grown popcorn is doing great. Some how it mysteriously got pollinated (it was only grown for looks).

I am also new to growing subtropical fruits (acerolas and pepino dulces). Even those are thriving.

I really don't know what to do about my tomatoes. If I was a superstitious person, I would think that my tomatoes are jealous of my attention (I know that sounds bonkers, but that is how I feel...just a little).

Angelique, sorry to hear this. I think it's a tough tomato year. I lost a promising Evergreen to bacterial wilt, my Magnus has given me 4 tomatoes and is succumbing to something bad, perhaps fusarium, and Mr. Stripey is a mule. While last year my Black Cherry tomatoes were highly prolific, and my Eva Purple Ball tomatoes were nonstop, this year the production on both is way down although I am getting something.

And the 100 degree heat we've had in NYC a couple times this week have no doubt sterilized the batch of blossoms that are currently out. That includes the first real set of blossoms on my Brandywine Sudduth and Yellow Brandywine plants, which I hope will find it in their hearts to give me some tomatoes by the end of September.

But, Sungold, Snow White, Lemon Boy, Rutgers, Jetsetter, German Striped, German Johnson, Ramapo, BHN 640, Black Pear, Green Grape, are going well.

Let's all be thankful for the production we get!!!

darn sorry for your losses. Here the Lemon cukes
have poured on and then slowed, to pourin' on
again. Wish you more.

Blackcherry is just started to come into its own.
1/2 week away. The Kimberly plants seemed to
be awither 3 weeks ago, but are still bearing. A
nice early. Lost my only Moldovan Green, but
will grow next year.*thanks again P.P.*

Aunt Gertie is Golden but will have to struggle to
regain birthrights from an AUX/SUR garden....jj61
