I follow Ray's suggested proportions of peat to bark to perlite.

I haven't had a chance to try the 2 bucket system yet myself. But in looking around their site last year I believe they did have some big plants in the buckets.

I suggest that you measure the "lift" of your wick before committing to final design. Suspend a length of the wick over a pan of water and measure how high the water will travel. If the water level in your reservoir is too low, no water will reach the container.
