I find it very interested that the wildlife, birds, squirrels, chips, know the exact right time to strike. Now the challenge is to strike before them...LOL

I love that use for getting rid of chocolate...LOL

No I haven't.

I have never nor will I ever dip bacon in chocolate.

To me bacon is something to be enjoyed for its own flavor.
It is one of the most glorious things man has ever invented and in no way should be tampered with defiled or in any other way contaminated.

Unless with BLT's or with runny eggs and toast.

I'm finding half eaten, half ripe cherry tomatoes all over the yard! Not just the sungold now, but the Black Cherry, which I have NOT tried yet, every time one turns yellowish from green, gets pulled and eaten.

I tried netting over my raspberries, but it didn't work. One day walking by the raspberries, something was shaking like mad and startled me...it was a chipmunk, who I startled, stuck under the netting trying to get out! They are as bad as the mice around here, ugh!

Yesterday my neighbor saw what might be the culprit of my lakefront tomato thievery...a MINK running along the rock wall into his yard, from mine. But from what I've read, they are meat eaters. Dang animals!

I should starve the cats. they are not doing their jobs!

Careful with the cats - minks can easily kill cats. They are vicious & fast. One held our family hostage last year after killing a couple of our hens. We were told by the owner of our local mink farm not to let the cat out or let our dog go anywhere near the bushes/wooded areas until we caught the mink. They are scary little critters.

Hope you get some of your cherries soon!

Wow, and to think how pretty they are and how lovely they would look as a coat ! (just kidding). I just wish the cats would help keep the chipmunk population under control to leave me one less varmint to worry about.

Tonight I went into a trancelike state while checking out my plants....there was a little chipmunk and he ran behind a large rock a few feet from where I stood. This was right after I picked up about a dozen half eaten cherry tomatoes. I wondered what would happen if I took a large rock and tried to trap the thing...and then all I could envision was a huge rabbid ferocious chipmunk looming over me...this completely brought me back to reality lol.

I kept thinking about Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the "Wererabbit" LOL

okay, I keep tasting these and I have to admit, I don't think I like them very much. They are okay but I think the issue is that I want to eat tomatoes and they don't taste anything like a tomato to me.

Love Matts Wild Cherry, love White Rabbit, wish I could say the same about Sungold. I have not covered them in chocolate yet, but that's the next attempt lol...I really do want to like them!

Funny I came across this thread, I have taken out all of my spring plants, and put in the summer and fall types. Except.......

For one Sungold, thats still hanging in there and when I am working in the patch I always pop a few.

The best uses for sungold to me are pop into your mouth whole and put into salads with EVOO and Balsamic Vin dressing. We made some salsa this year with SG and Black Cherry. I liked it and it was extremely sweet and hot. I think some people love that combo and thought it might make a good commercial product. Pretty too. To me, it was too sweet for salsa, other than maybe as a change up from the ordinary red/pink tomato salsas. Round here in our heat, their are getting small and the skins are thickening up, so they are really losing their appeal.
