I grew Polish last season. It vined well but I didn't get a lot of fruit - maybe 15 or so. Nice size, decent tasting but it didn't make it back for this upcoming season.

I have seedlings of Sandul Moldovan that will be going in the garden in several weeks. I've had good reports on this one.

I grew Polish this year and it replaced Caspian Pink as my favorite tasting Tomato,however, it ripened very late and production was low. Next year I'm going to replace it with Soldacki.

I hope you get some responses on Zogola as I'm also considering it.

It's really just called Wins All ( from a naming contest the Henderson Seed CO had, is descended from Ponderosa) and taste is great as is production.

2. German Giant, don't know it
3. German Pink , haven't grown it
4. German Head , an oldie but goodie, very good taste and production

5. German Queen, for me taste is mediocre, produces OK

6. Polish, there are about 3 different varieties named POlish and they are not all the same. I've grown all 3 and think taste and production are just fine.

7. Sandul Moldovan , taste excellent as is production

8. Stump of the World, taste and production excellent

9. Zogola, taste excellent and for such a large fruited variety production is also excellent.

Now you may not have all my faves re large pinks and large reds, but the ones you do list are pretty darn good and you should get some fine tasting fruits from most of them.

I had very good luck with Polish, though I can't compare it to the others you listed. It was earlier and larger than Brandywine and produced and tasted better than Brandy Boy in my garden last year (the fruit weren't mis-shapen either). I never got to taste Brandywine last year so I can't compare it flavor wise. The kind of Polish I grew originated from Heirloom seeds.

I grew German Giant this year and they set really well especially for the summer we had. But had to pull both due to disease before picking any fruit. May try again and hope for a better year. But did seem to have disease problems.

7. Sandul Moldovan
Very good variety, I grew it last summer and again this year. Great production, great taste.


8. Stump of the World
Very good variety, I grew it last summer. I don't rememebr if I thought it was as good as SM but I think that I thought they were both very good. Don't recall yields but I think it was good. SM, SOTW and Kosovo all blended together last summer, all good but I had too many varieties that year to accurately recall details.


9. Zogola
Big disappointment. Last year in a 5 gallon pail it was so so. This one is well liked so I gave it a try in the garden this summer. I was not that impressed with the flavor and the fruits are weird shaped like 2 or 3 tomatoes glued together making it hard to use as a slicer. I wouldn't grow it again.

I have grown these:

4. German Head this year. Early in the year was productive and very good in flavor. Mid summer did not grow. Late summer picked up again and had good flavor, but not as good as the early ones. Seeds from Sandhill

6. Polish from Charles Bowles in Minnesota grown this year. Only a few tomatoes early in the year, but the flavor was excellent. No tomatoes since July. Smaller than anticipated.

7. Sandul Molovan grown in the past several years were very productive and quite good for a large tomato. Great for BLTs and other sandwiches. Will grow again next year. Seeds from Sandhill

8. Stump of the World is one of my favorites and will continue to grow every year. This year it was a bit more tart than in the past, but a very pleasant flavor, good for all uses and productive. 20 lbs. per plant with average weight per fruit over 12 ounces. Seeds originally from Mariseeds

9. Zogola; this year was my first. A very nice tomato in looks and flavor. I only had one plant and it gave 22 tomatoes for over 15 lbs with thw average size 12 ounces. No fruit since mid-August. Fruits were very meaty and flavor was at the same time sweet with a hint of tart tomatoey taste if that makes sense. A nice addition. I will grow it again. It still has several tomatoes on a healthy vine that I hope will ripen enough to eat. Seeds from Chuck Wyatt in 2002...2006 germination 85%.

I'm growing German Giant right now in my fall garden. It's a gorgeous plant,very sturdy, big blooms just starting to set. Hope it tastes good.

Polish may be the most productive tomato I've ever grown. I just came in with more, and the total picked to date is 32.9# - and counting!

German Head--first year in my garden: production good, taste excellent. Will grow again.

Stump of the World--production medium, taste excellent. Have grown it several years and will grow again but maybe not next year (gotta move something out for new varieties).

Zogola--first year in my garden: production excellent, taste excellent. Will grow again. Yeah, some odd shaped fruit now and then, but think of it as diversity and inclusiiveness of the tomato-type.

sandul moldavan- good tomato, big, very productive, taste low on acidity. some say it is bland. does not have a tomatoey acid bite but not really sweet either

stump-- also a good tomato, average productivity. tastes average on acidity. more than sandul. slight hint of sweetness, good balance. not my favorite. I would prefer sandul over stump.
