Default anyone grown sun cherry?

Over at TGS they are touting it as the 'sister' to Sungold, which I love.

Anyone know anything about it? Anyone grow it?

"Yes"- suncherry is not too bad, I grew it last year, but its not quite as sweet as sungold, but not bad- and quite sweet,
Golden cherry F1 is a better bet, and there are some new ones on the market this year from the same stable,
Suncherry supreme, which is a lot better.

Yikes, I believe I am falling way behind in growing these varieties. Thanks for the report.

To me, it's all about trying to be hybrid-free or simply not having to buy a packet of Sungold every 2-3 years. Personally, I don't mind.

I've been thrilled with the production and flavor of mine and intend to plant 3-4 next fall. I'm getting a handful every 3-4 days.

I'd love to only grow OP varieties of everything as well, but there are some things (like curcubits) I simply cannot grow if I don't go hybrid due to pest/disease issues and in the case of Sungold, it is very unique and there is no OP variety that compares to it. There are good OP cherries available, but nothing with a Sungold like flavor.

Besides, even with the OP varieties I garden intensively meaning very close plant spacing so the potential for crosses mean I wouldn't trust my OP seed anyway if I saved it.

I've grown it before a couple of times. It is very good as red cherry types go, but it is no Sungold tastewise.

Extemely prolific.

I agree with most of the comments here about sun cherry, good but not as good as sungold. I am trying a new variety next year called Suncherry extra sweet, a hybrid . Here's where I got seeds...

Michael,

I ordered red target seed as well, so hope to be growing it next year.
