But that shouldn't have anything to do with when they germinate now does it. I think they should germinate as the moon is moving toward full rather than moving away from full.

Germination takes place on the waxing moon - that's is as it approaches full from new. So you are correct. The most rapid growth occurs at the gibbous phase, that's the intermediate phase after the first quarter. Seeds set well in the fruits at the waning phase called disemminating ( that's about where the moon is now for a couple of days) and its a good time to collect seeds now.

LOL, yes work is a bit slow here today. Mark is the infamous chickenman and none of his post were funny. They were rude, nasty and arogant. I and others liked telling him this.
And , how are you getting weeds? Ours are all dying from a lack of water.

Every time I put a drop of water on my plants the weeds get ugly and go " that's mine - get out of my way - I'll have that - I'm bigger than you ".

I love to wrestle with rude ,nasty, arrogant people, it brings out the worst in me. Everyone needs a shadow evil person on whom to dump all our own rude nasty arrogant bits!!!

Lot's of old timers really believe in that moon stuff. Again, modern science doesn't have an explanation for everything yet.

Most of the old timers who grew gardens always had good gardens, so maybe they knew something we don't?????
I want to try this next season...I started mowing my yard by the correct moon signs and did so for the last 2 months of mowing...I found that my yard was easier to mow, so took less time, and my yard seemed to look better then it ever had and I also did not have to mow as often. Everything I have read about this and I don't understand it completely made alot of sense, The main thing that people said about this was that they were able to harvest a few weeks earlier, with higher yields. So people with shorter growing season might benifit most from doing this?????

Good on ya for using Moon gardening. It's the way I do it for everything from compost making to seed gathering. You can also use it for haircuts so I guess mowing lawns is under the same dynamics. I put a monthly guide on the ausgarden forum which is broad based and not specific to tomatoes. I do it for Australian condition though but you might get a bit more info from it.

I'm not sure if I qualify as an old timer but biodynamic gardeners and farmers use moon methods too.
