no fruit

does anyone know why tomatoes and some of the peppers are real pretty-blooms- but not hardly any fruit on the vines. weather has not been too bad. i have been giving them fertz every couple of wks.

Sounds like they are not being pollinated. Do you regularly see bees visiting your garden? I know some here resort to "buzzing" their tomato blossoms with old electric toothbrushes to help them pollinate. The pollinators typically don't find my garden until mid-to late June, so I always give the flower truss stem a couple of good flicks whenever I visit he garden.

What have your July temperatures been like? Tomatoes don't set fruit well in hot weather, although some varieties do better than others. If your daytime temperatures have been in the 90's and higher, with night temps much above 70 or so, your plants may only be taking a lil vacation from the heat. You may start seeing more fruit if the temperatures are beginning to moderate now.

have not seen any bees and only 1 bumble bee and he wasn't around the toms--the temp was in the high 90's but not for too long(like last yr.) might not be getting pollinated. tks

Tomatoes are self pollinating - don't need bees. Ditto for the peppers. However bees etc. CAN cross pollinate the plants of the same kind. You didn't say if the plants or in the ground or in containers. If they're in the ground you might try holding back on the fertilizer for awhile and see if they start setting fruit if the lower temperatures don't help.

it could be that i have put to much fert. on. the toms and peppers are in the ground. i have 2 toms in containers that are doing a WHOLE lot better.
