they are HK, however two of them have stalled, probably due to a bacterial type infection but i am letting them go to see if they defeat whatever is in there

here are todays pics:

i topped the biggest tomato and potted it in a party cup to root. i think this is how i'll use the seed starter for propagation of tomatoes i'll just root the suckers each week and plant them out instead of trying to make the plant go from hydro to soil

thanks! they are even bigger today! however i don't think this is going to set a fruit without the flowering nutrients so it will probably end up just growing lots of leaves, i won't be able to order flowering nutes until the 20th at the earliest. sometime in june i'm gonna expand the kitchen garden so i'll have a good start anyway.

not sure what variety it is, i think one of them is dixie hybrid yellow crookneck and one is white bush scallop squash, but the yellow one could also be a plain yellow crookneck

here are some new pics, i really need to get some flowering nutrients as the squash hasn't opened one female flower yet. i do like the males though, every morning a couple more have bloomed, i might even fry some of them up one day and see how they taste also i found gnat larvae on some of the roots, so that probably means all of the roots. i can't order any gnatrol til monday and then probably several days to get it. i put some myco grow soluble which has BT in it, but i don't know if its a strain of BT that will kill the larvae and i only had a little bit but i figured if it would help no harm in trying. they don't seem to be too stressed by the gnats so i'm hoping they will hold out a little longer. i took cuttings of the biggest tomato and they are rooting now waiting to go in the garden. that plant now has more new shoots i can clone, and if i can get around to it i'll top the cherokee purple and set out the cold survivor to harden off.

Get a mosquito dunk, and that will kill the worms on the roots. Tie it in a sock and hang it in the reservoir. The dunks are bacillus thuringensis bacteria, which are harmless to people.

No problem. It takes 3-4 days for the dunk to work. There will be dead worms in your roots, but plants don't seem to mind. They probably enjoy the decomposing organic matter.

i pulled up the cups on a couple of plants and the only larvae i saw were dead so i'm guessing the bt in the mycogrow worked, at least it will get me by til monday when i can get some mosquito dunks. i'm also thinking of using them for a soil drench around some of the outside plants but i'll have to look into that further before i commit any plants to it.

i chopped a lot off the tomatoes and set some cuttings in DE outside in the shade, i should have a pretty fair amount of tomatoes to put out all through the season from these hydroponic projects. the squash leaves have a cratering thing going on not sure what that's about but it doesn't seem to do much damage, i figure it might be from the gnats or possibly low air flow i'll google it in a little bit
